Diocesan Assembly Meeting: Delhi Diocese

The next Diocesan Assembly meeting will be held on Saturday, 27 June 2009 at 10.00 a.m. at the Mar Thoma Centre, 26, Bhai Vir Singh Marg, Gole Market, New Delhi – 110 001. Diocesan Episcopa His Lordship Rt. Rev. Dr. Abraham Mar Paulos will preside over the meeting. Rt. Rev. Dr. Jacob Mar Barnabas (Malankara Catholic Church) will lead the devotion. Annual Report & Annual Accounts for 2008-09 and Budget for 2009-10 of the Diocese will be presented in the meeting.

Demise of Toby Yohannan, Nyack, New York

Demise of Toby Yohannan (Nyack, New York)

Toby Yohannan was born in Nyack, New York on February 14, 1988 to Rev. Philip Yohannan and Mrs. Susamma Yohannan. Toby was the elder brother of Timmy.

He graduated from Nyack High School in 2006 and from the Universal Technical Institute in Houston, Texas in 2007 specializing in collision repair technology. He successfully completed the Mercedes Benz Elite Training Program in 2008 and worked for Norris Cadillac in Nanuet, NY. Toby was an active youth member of St. James Mar Thoma Church in Hillburn, NY and played varsity football for Nyack High School.

Maramon Convention ends

PATHANMATHITTA: Head of Marthoma Church Joseph Marthoma Metropolitan has called upon the faithful to face the crisis caused by the present global financial meltdown by following the path of Jesus Christ.

Delivering the message on the conclusion of the 114th Maramon Convention on the sand-bed of Pampa near Kozhencherry on Sunday, Joseph Marthoma Metropolitan said that the faithful should have unflinching faith in Christ to overcome the serious crises faced by the world.

The faithful should show the people of other faiths the path of the Cross to overcome the problems faced at present. Delivering the discourse earlier, South African Bishop Martin Lund called for a new approach in attracting the people of other faiths.

Asia's biggest Christian convention begins in Kerala

Maramon (Kerala), Feb 15: The Maramon convention, which is billed as the largest congregation of Christians in Asia, organised by Syrian Mar Thoma church of Kerala opened here Sunday.

The 114th Maramon convention was inaugurated by the head of Mar Thoma church, Joseph Marthoma Metropolitan. The church is headquartered at Thiruvalla, about 130 km from Thiruvananthapuram.

Minister reviews Maramon Convention arrangements

Pathanamthitta: Water Resources Minister N.K. Premachandran has said that elaborate arrangements have been made for the 114th Maramon Convention from February 15 to 22. The Minister was reviewing the arrangements at a meeting at the Maramon Retreat Centre on Monday. He stressed the need for keeping the convention venue, the Pampa riverbed, and its surroundings clean. The local self-government institutions and the Kerala State Pollution Control Board should check dumping of waste on the riverbanks.

The dedication of the Khariar Road MTC (Orissa) was done by Diocesan Episcopa, Rt. Rev. Joseph Mar Barnabas Episcopa on 11th October 2008. His Lordship also dedicated the Kesara Chapel and Sapraiguda Chapel in Sreekakula Mission in Andhra Pradesh on October 19th and 20th, 2008 respectively.

We have been allotted a plot for setting up a School at Karpooripuram, Ghaziabad, U.P. by the Ghaziabad Development Authority. The Diocese is planning to start a Higher Secondary School there which is part of the National Capital Region of Delhi.
